Time for this Grumpy Dude to get back on the pissed off, and irate band wagon. Why you ask? Well, a do-good single mother filed a complaint with the Rhode Island branch of the American Civil Liberties Union last May, saying that her child felt excluded from a father-daughter dance because she did not have a father figure to take her. Though the complaint was filed with the ALCU in May, the school district didn’t resolve it until August. Bureaucracy in action gotta love it, but I digress. Be it due to my conservative values or whatever, I call “Bullshit”! Couldn’t this concerned mother find a male family member or family friend to escort her daughter to the dance? Did she approach the school district and ask in lieu of a father, if she could take her daughter? Or, as is so common place these days, she found her cause and jumped on the chance to gain some notoriety for herself and daughter! Is it so detrimental to boys and girls, that we are having events that are parent-child gender-specific? Or, our we living in a world where equality has been pushed so much to the forefront that we are losing any possibility of retaining our individuality?
If we agree with Dear Mom on this issue, then shouldn’t we just as well bring suit against the International Olympic Committee for their sexist practices of not letting men and women compete against each other? Or better yet, let’s do away with gender specific bathrooms and make them all uni-sex, so that no one can claim sexual discrimination. I know some of our female readers may balk at this notion, but think positively, you might not have to wait in line any longer to use the facilities.
When are we going to see that this crap has gone too far? What are your thoughts?
