I still can’t believe that Universal is spending $200M on a movie based on the board game, Battleship. It almost sounds like some kind of joke, doesn’t it? It sadly isn’t. And this big budget movie is supposed to be some kinda “contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle.” Thrill. And you know who they are battling? Aliens. *Insert sarcastic groan here*
There’s a small part of me though that’s almost hoping this movie makes a bazillion dollars! Then we can look forward to movies like:
After moving to Connecticut with his mother, Cecil (probably played by that Jaden Smith brat) joins the Scrabble club at school…but he soon falls prey to a Scrabble playing bully, so he takes lessons from Scrabble Master, Mr. Queue. While Mr. Queue teaches Cecil to defend himself against malicious three-word, triple point score attacks, he also imparts some important life lessons along the way.
“Yahtzee! When Dice Attack”
After a rash of brutal dice attacks ravages the gambling population of Atlantic City it’s up to inveterate gambler, Steven Ray to discover the truth behind these unusually aggressive dice attacks. While superstitious locals believe the dice are possessed by demons, Steven suspects the attacks were caused by the unethical experiments of a former colleague turned rival.
In this medical thriller, surgeon Bruce Parker is haunted by an incessant loud beep every time he operates. Is the noise real or is it just his over-worked imagination? Against the advice of his nurse friend Penelope, Bruce starts to investigate and the trail leads to a brilliant doctor with a clouded conscience whose experimental surgeries…hint at the sinister.
What board game would you like to see turned into a $200M movie?
